Child Contact Service

man with unhappy little girlThe children of divorced or separated parents sometimes get caught up in the ongoing hostility and distrust which may exist between the parents, but often they also want to be able to see both Mum and Dad.

The Child Contact Centre can help by enabling children to have contact with the non-resident parent, or other family members, in a safe and comfortable environment when it is not possible or safe for informal, unsupervised contact to take place. This can make a real difference to the lives of children.

Experienced staff are on hand to welcome the children and their parents, to help them to relax and to reassure them, and to oversee the contact to try to ensure that it is a positive and safe experience for all concerned. Staff will observe the contacts and write reports when requested to; sometimes the Court will ask for an assessment to help it determine what is best for the children.

The Contact Centre is called Marietta, which offers a safe and homely environment in a quiet residential area of Didsbury. It is easily reached by numerous bus routes and it is 5 minutes walk from Didsbury East Station.

The Society is a full member of the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC), and provides a range of contact services, including indirect contact, life story work, fully supervised contact, and contact assessments, together with reports and Court assessments. A charge is made for this work, which is usually funded by Legal Aid or by CAFCASS.

Referrals are welcome from Solicitors, CAFCASS Officers and Social Workers.
