Fostering, Adoption and Post-adoption Services

caring adult watching two childrenWelcome to our website where you may be taking the first step to becoming a carer with CCRS.  This could lead to a child joining your family temporarily or permanently either through fostering, adoption or on a respite basis.

There is a great shortage of foster carers and adoptive parents for the children in the care system who need to belong to a family. It can be daunting offering yourself as a fostering or an adoptive applicant but here at CCRS we can guide you through the whole experience.

At CCRS we are proud of our success in family finding for children over the last 120 years.

Our specialist Fostering and Adoption Teams offer a professional and positive response to help potential carers through the process from an initial enquiry to the placement of a child.

Fron August 2007 the Take-a-Break service, which has provided respite care for children and young people with disabilities, will operate within the fostering sector. Successful links between carers who provide respite for specific children have been developing over many years. The aim is that these continue, as many do, until a child reaches adulthood. We are seeking to extend this service by recruiting respite foster carers who can provide a minimum number of nights each year for children with a range of difficulties, including autism.

Regular Information Sessions are held to give potential foster carers a better insight into the needs of the children we care for and the expectations we will have of carers. These are held alternately on Saturday mornings and a midweek evening at CCRS, 390 Parrs Wood Road, Didsbury, Manchester, M20 5NA. If you are interested in attending, please phone or e-mail to confirm attendance.

Together we can make a difference.
