Case study
Jean gave up her baby for adoption in 1957. She never married and lived in the hope that one day she would meet him. From that date she put away 50p each week in a bank account for him. Her one desire was to tell him how much she had loved him and how impossible it was to keep him.
Forty eight years later, when she was 73 years old, Jean heard that birth mothers could now make enquiries about their babies and so she contacted CCRS: after counselling it only took a short time to trace her son. Bill was surprised but happy to hear from Jean. He had had a good adoption and was now married with two sons.
Following a happy reunion at the Post-adoption Centre at CCRS Jean and Bill now have a good, fruitful relationship.
Today, after 49 years of living alone with no family Jean has a much-loved son, daugher-in-law and 2 grandsons and she has received a lovely card from Bill's mother expressing her delight. Jean has also given Bill the money saved over all those years.
This service is funded by voluntary donations and is in need of more funds. If you wish to help we would be very grateful for any financial support. See Support us for more information.
