New Child Contact Centre opens
Our new Child Contact Centre in Didsbury, South Manchester officially opened on the 7th December 2006. The venue will allow children to meet with parents and other relatives in a comfortable, informal setting with supervision and assessment being supplied by qualified staff.
The child contact centre exists to promote and enable contact between children and their parents where circumstances prevent this from happening. This new service can be commissioned by Social Workers where children are looked after by the Local Authority and independent assessment is requested. Referrals can also be made by the Courts and Solicitors in situations where a parent is seeking contact with their child.
The opening was attended by representatives from CAFCASS, Local Authorities and family law Solicitors in the region. "We were delighted to see a number of representatives visiting the facility on the 7th December. We received very positive feedback on the day and CCRS are already considering additional centres for the future". says Shelagh Ryan, Family Support Services Manager.
