Garden Party
It had been touch and go with the torrential wind and rain but the afternoon of the 16th June stayed dry for that great annual jamboree the CCRS Annual garden party. Thanks to the great efforts made by an army of volunteers there were stalls aplenty, activities for children, fire engines and police horses, juggling and archery, cakes galore and plenty of prizes not to mention…
The Grand Prize draw (top prize a £1,000). The crowds were thicker than ever and once again the event provided an opportunity for the many old friends and past adopters/ foster carers/ children of the Society to meet up. Some of our helpers have been coming to the Garden party for over 50 years and generations within families arrive to run stalls for us. We raised over £8,000 on the day but more important than the money was the lovely atmosphere and good will generated among staff and volunteers and visitors alike. Thank you to all our helpers. And for those members of the public who were not able to make it there is always next year.
