Golf Tournament – May
The CCRS Golf Tournament is one of the first events of its kind in the Golfing year and as such always runs the risk of clashing with the early summer rains that are a feature of many sporting events right through to August!
This year the 23rd tournament was blessed in the usual way by excellent skill, splendid spirit, and spectacular scores! The weather was fine too.
John and Caroline had organised the event at Davyhulme Golf club, which has been our home for a number of years now. It is a beautiful setting and the catering as well as the welcome we receive is always first class.
The players are drawn from the North-west's most professional and skilled builders architects and associated trades and professions. Fr Wilson is usually called upon to present prizes and to deliver some very poor and well worn jokes-Its something of a tradition that these should be received with nothing more than a groan of familiarity - however, this year, at least one person was heard to giggle.
The event raised a magnificent total of £6000 and the check was presented on the night and banked the next morning- so keen were the participants to pay up and the recipient to pay in.
