CCRS workers train Social Work students
In October 2007, Patricia and Elaine, social workers on our Family Placement (Adoption) Team delivered two full days training to 75 final year BA and MA students at a local University. The days focused on a child’s journey through the care system and on to adoption. We covered issues of loss, attachment, contact, Life Story work, preparing a child to move on to adoption, and assessment skills. The response from students was very encouraging! For example:
- “A really good session. Well presented – NOT dry! Very informative.”
- “I found the day useful and informative. It always helps when tutors are clear and have a good subject knowledge, which was clearly evident throughout the day. The day was delivered at an appropriate pace and took in several learning styles.”
- “I thought you were well prepared. Very good presentation. Good visual aids and variety.”
- “Really enjoyed the session. The interactions and exercises were very useful.”
- “Excellent day’s teaching/learning.”
CCRS is committed to promoting the excellent social work practice for which we are renowned. We welcome opportunities to be involved with student practitioners and apart from facilitating lectures, provide practice placements in various Teams throughout the Society.
