Maryvale Refurbishment
Between December 2008 and February 2009 our Blackburn Supported Accommodation Unit – Maryvale – benefited from a refurbishment which was provided with the support of Royal Bank of Scotland, John Lewis Partnership, Graham & Brown and Blackburn Doors & Kitchens. RBS provided a team of volunteers who gave their free time to do all the painting and also provided the sum of £500 towards other refurbishment costs. Graham & Brown also provided volunteers, as well as a designer, to help create a more modern and welcoming environment in the communal areas. The mums and babies who live at the Unit are really pleased with the restyling and a more family oriented atmosphere has been created with a communal dining area so that everyone can enjoy meal times together.
The most exciting part of the refurbishment for the clients was the transformation of their own rooms which was undertaken by John Lewis and Community and Business Partners, Andrew Goodall, who offered to spend £1,000 on each room. New beds, lighting, décor and accessories have been included and the clients are thrilled with the results.
CCRS would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all those involved for their time and effort.
