Our mission
At CCRS, everything we do is influenced by our principles and values, which are as important to us today as they were when CCRS was founded in 1886. The mission of the Society flows from our belief in the sanctity of life and the dignity of the human person.
The Society’s Roman Catholic ethos provides the value base for all its services. As followers of Christ, we share in His mission;
“I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance”
John 10(10)
Our values
- CCRS exists to promote the physical, spiritual and social welfare of disadvantaged children and families.
- CCRS has a pro-life Christian ethos, which values all people irrespective of their race, religion, culture, social condition, disability or gender.
- CCRS promotes the right of all children and young people to grow towards maturity and to fulfil their physical and spiritual potential.
Our aims
Within these values we aim to;
- Promote the values of Catholic social welfare working with children and families of all faiths and none.
- Provide high quality services to people who would not otherwise receive help and support.
- Use resources to the maximum benefit of those we seek to serve.
- Shape our services by listening to service users and responding to local needs.
- Continue working with other statutory and voluntary agencies in developing and monitoring appropriate services.
We achieve these aims in the following ways
We find families to look after children who cannot live with their birth parents. We do this by providing foster carers and adoptive parents. We also help those affected by adoption including birth parents, adopters and adoptees.
We manage and run safe, nurturing environments for homeless young mothers. We do this in our 3 supported accommodation units.
We provide enriching experiences for children with disabilities and a chance for their families to have a break. We do this via our respite services.
We provide a non-threatening, easily accessible social work service for families facing breakdown and trauma. This work is carried out by our family support service.
We provide small, child-focused homes for children in the Looked After system. This is our residential service.
